It's good to take stock
Reviewing and Setting Goals
So, here we are at the beginning of another year and the focus is very much on New Year's Resolutions and what we're going to do for the coming year. We may produce To-Do lists, well-formed goals, financial projections.
All that is splendid of course, and helps to motivate us to continue to develop our skills and our therapy business.
But it's also a good idea to look back and take stock of what you have achieved in the previous 12 months. You'll probably have written down your goals for 2014, or you'll have an idea of where you wanted to be by now.
Have you achieved everything on your list? Yes? Fantastic! You're well placed to forge ahead to make 2015 even better.
If you fell short of your goals, all is not lost. Perhaps ill-health or some other unexpected life event prevented you from achieving your desired outcomes. Perhaps it's just that, despite your best efforts, your plans didn't come to fruition.
And yet when you look back there will be countless things that you did do that maybe weren't even on your plan.
It's worth taking a few moments to review the events of last year and write a list of 20 good things that you did or that happened to you.
This really is a worthwhile exercise, as it will help you to focus on your successes and your strengths.
And remember these words from motivational speaker Zig Ziglar:
"You may have made some mistakes, and you may not be where you want to be, but that's got nothing to do with your future."
Here's to an amazingly successful 2015!
